Sun Feb 5th: Sportsman, Hull
Good
pub this, with rock fans old and older. With a nice set-up and well managed bar, a real music treat. The Underdogs went down
well, and I urge any music fan to check this place out, there are 2-3 bands a week. Won 2-1
Wed Feb 8th: King William,
Hull
This
venue has a lot in it's favour it would seem, location and decor. Getting people in The City Centre to listen to Live Music
is tricky though, especially midweek. U-Dogs played well, but the crowd was sparse, the odd madman livening up the night.
Worth a visit. Lost 0-1
Sat Feb 18th: Highway, Hull
Come
and support the Underdogs! If you do, you will have a good night. A Big pub with music fans, outside of the City Centre. We've
not enjoyed a night so much for ages. Helped by the Kidger Krew and the Baskerville Badgers, real music was well appreciated.
Won 3-0
Sat Feb 25th: Ashby Star,
Scunthorpe
We still like
coming here as you get some real characters and fans of rocking blues. The fact that they have 2-3 bands a week of a good
standard helps the pub get guaranteed custom. They'll be back for more, as JK's deafening Amp had them cheering for fun. Won
1-0
Sat Mar 25th: The Brickmaker's, Hull
Some
work has been put into this pub, in the shade of the KC Stadium. It has a small stage and pool table to hide around. Many
good bands play here. Cursed by no Hull City and sheet rain, The Underdogs played to a small eclectic crowd. Could be very
good, very soon. Have a look. Drew 1-1
Fri Apr7th: White Horse, Gilberdyke
If you don't know, Gilberdyke is out
towards Goole on the old road into Hull. A few of Stew's workmates dropped in for a skinfull and were charged £2.50 for the
privilege! Everybody was happy, including the band who went down a storm. Won 2-1
Sat Apr 8th: Banks Harbour,
Hull
This pub has had a few fights over the
years, so it was no surprise to see one as the first set came to a close. The venue suits a rock band well and it was a very
good gig with some eye candy bouncing in towards town. One we'll be going back for soon. Won 2-0
Thu Apr 27th: Lloyds Arms, Grimsby
Goals aplenty, and CIBA crew that numbered
more than 5! We had heard of this pub's rep and it did not disappoint. Possibly the drunkest crowd ever (not for the Underdogs,
just in general) cheered as loudly as the Boro fans that night. Both sides romped to a memorable 4-2 Win.
Fri May 12th: Ashby Star,
Scunthorpe
Fridays ...
not the night for the Star. Bereft of life, the punters resembled the cast of "Shaun of the Dead" (again). The shape of the
pub demands rock fans and they were sparse, making it hard work. Some good perfomances could not mask a 2-1 defeat.
Thu May 25th: Queens,
Hedon
This pub is the dogs'. Thursdays is rock
night, plenty of boozers, this gig had the England B game against Belarus as a Bonus! With the Cree feeling worse than Robert
Green, an very entertaining night was had by all. A groin tearing 3-1 music feast
Sat Jun 24th: Brickmaker's, Hull
Sparse, but funnish. During a
Hot World Cup, a man's thoughts turn to other things rather than music. Best played on a Hull City football night! Lost 0-1
Thu July 13th: Lloyds Arms,
Grimsby
Any ZZ Top fans in? Or lookalikes? This
pub is a real find, it would be good to add similar ones. We like them and they like us! An offer of TV and radio exposure
helped the atmos, with a Hendrix medley notching a 2-0 win.
Sat July 15th: Banks Harbour, Hull
Good
stage and a few good fans. On the cusp of the City on a Saturday night, this pub has a large turnover of punters. All shapes
and sizes, resembling a science fiction catwalk in front of the stage. More please! Drew 1-1
Fri Jul 21st: The Anchor,
Hull
Bikers pub, very lively looking with small,
but well placed stage. With most of the bikers in the Algarve, it was slightly sparse, but with a fight always brewing, it
made for an exciting night. Bowie came on as late sub and nodded the winner in a 2-1 victory.
Sat Jul 22nd: The Barge, Keadby. Near Scunthorpe LATE BAR
Excellent
venue again. Well named along the canal bank, it's a pub of two halves with a few revellers. Wendy the pensioner did a Jagger
impression on stage as the band played on. Starting at 10:35 and ending at 00:45, an Adams own goal could not deny a
great 3-1 win.
Fri Aug 18th: Wedding at White
Heather, Caenby Corner, LINCS
Lawrence "the Creeture" Cook now married,
groupies BACK OFF! A brilliant day brought to a climax(!) by the Underdogs. Video of this is available at http://www.expattelly.com/LawrenceKarenwedding/The evening do-incl The Underdogs Live!.wmv
Good luck with the above spaces.... a 4-0
win, all on scoresheet
Sat Sept 2nd: Garden Party,
Goole
Markee Tent, high winds and a drummer
sinking into the mud! Family fun galore at this outdoor special. With an inexhaustable buffet and beer supplies, it was always
going to be fun, even when the police were called! More of this please, won 2-1
Sat 16th Sept: Highway, Hull
Recorded
live by professional sound engineer, with lights and smoke machine! Things have come on a bit since the nervous debut at the
Humber Pilot, LIVE CD coming out in October called "Hitting the Highway". It could be yours for only £8 (bargain). Drew 2-2
Thu 21st Sept: Lloyds Arms, Grimsby
Brilliant
Boozer. Fitting the lights in was fun, with barely enough room to breathe, the Dogs waged war on the GY populace. A good number
of normal people in, scatterings of diehards too, all clapping with one hand! (whilst holding pint). Jonny Mack sidefooting
a late winner, Won 1-0
Sat 14th Oct: Banks Harbour, Hull
Pass
me the steamed Mick Jagger impressionist; he can then catapult himself into the lights causing chaos! Calzaghe victorious,
Dogs needing some more life from the crowd, who don't get going in this one stop, one pint boozer. Stage and Landlord still
excellent, check out the mild. Drew 0-0
Sat 21st Oct: Flixborough Inn, Flixborough
A
pub which needed visiting, we've heard so much about it. U-Dogs filling in for Lincolnshire's Loudest Rock Band, namely Zero
Damage. Band area and pub room quite small, with sprinkling of music fans. Good reviews from the punters, we hope to back
in 2007. Won 1-0
Sat 28th Oct: Barn Farm, Thorngumbald
Yet
another Landlady(!), the lovely Michelle. We think she was our biggest fan as the punters again skulked the wrong side of
the wall. Dance songs needed for next time, when we return in 2007. DJ where are you? Werewolves turned up with a smile on
his face (again) to bundle in a late equaliser. Drew 1-1
Thu 23rd Nov: Queens,
Hedon
Excellent pub with a very mixed and boozy
audience. We just managed to fit everything in and as the weather turned cold the lights got hot. Geordies winning at football
could not take the smile of Jonny Mack's face as brand new baby Josephine scored a 25 yard screamer (that's noise). Won 2-0
Sat 25th Nov: Ashby Star,
Scunthorpe
Some real punters
still, but we could take them all home with us afterwards! If that barmaid gives me the wink one more time she's likely to
tackled from behind ... come on, we're all thinking it ... Lost 1-0
Fri
1st Dec: The County Hotel, Grimsby
Again this could
be a great venue, advertising and reputation required, and not just the pub. Malletiser and the Munchkins helped cheer home
the Dogs, and it was good to see some real young guns who new their music. Look out for Snake Bytes who are a child of The
Brew. Won 2-0
Thu
7th Dec: Driffield Social Club
An 18th birthday
party is always good fun, those teenagers were slurring their words before 9 'o clock so it was no surprise when they loved
us. How many went to school the next day! This gig was filmed before a LIVE hormonal audience. Won 3-1
Fri
8th Dec: Anchor, Hull
What a brilliant
room for music this can be. We could have gone up to our top level on sound if there were was a big support. Unfortunately
many of them went to see the The Alligators at the nearby Sportsman. Bad timing again! Well run, if you like music, this
is for you. Drew 1-1
Fri
15th Dec: The Admiral Hawke, Hessle; near Hull
Performances for 2005:
January, Saturday 22nd: Norland, Hessle
The night of the three bass players brought Peter Renfrew into the band, with Mark managing the sound and "Winter-Haired"
Ken nodding. The crowd joined in, in what is a popular and excellent venue. Recorded on CD, look for it on this site soon.
Won 2-1
February, Saturday 19th: Ashby Star, Scunthorpe
Enjoyable return to a favourite venue. High spirits and A Renfrew-Inspired minibus crowd made for a good night out. Summer
of 69 went down a storm, and Fred and Ginger hit the dance floor with relish. Scunthorpe is the place for live music. Won
1-0
March, Saturday 12th: Queensway, Scunthorpe
Food pubs do not usually make good music venues. Neither do L-shaped bars. Playing in this L-shaped restaurant
made for a challenging evening, made no easier using new equipment. A battling, baffling defeat with a positive only
for sound plusses. Lost 0-2
March, Friday 25th: The Ferns, Carnaby. Near Bridlington
This pub is worth the mileage. Great stage, barstaff and punters guarantee a belting night out. Many holiday-makers
on the lash generated atmosphere, Good Friday it certainly was! Sunshine played twice, "Do the Beatles", "Give it more welly!"
Won 3-1
March, Saturday 26th: Heritage, Hull
Our 1st appearance for 2005 back in Hull City, not stale like the football against Port Vale. Vibrant locals,
plenty of knowledge and beer inside 'em too. Has anyone seen the Jack for the P.A? "Yes, it's still in the bag."
What about my voice? Won 2-1 a.e.t
April, Saturday 9th: Barn Farm, Thorngumbald
With speakers crackling and monitors silent, early vibes were not good. However, the new management and DJ team have
made this pub the most improved venue of 2005. The bar 'til 1a.m gave us an excellent party crowd. We will relish
the return leg. Won 3-1
April, Friday 22nd: Ashby Star, Scunthorpe
I got the blues, can't get enough of those Scunthorpe blues. Not discouraged by silent bass bins, bass(!),
and the place being much quieter. We managed to do two requests! But "Do Sweet Home Alabama, and I will
F*@k you" didn't happen. Drew 1-1
April, Friday 29th: The Ferns, Carnaby. Near Bridlington
Holiday Crowd! What holiday crowd? With a monitor gone bang, one hardcore fan and a few stragglers, this was a grind.
Still a great boozer, but lacking in local support. A new set list went well, a summer return perhaps? Lost 0-2
May, Thursday 5th: Three Tuns, Hull
This place has improved and could be a good future venue. Building up support is key to success and this was not a bad
start. Hardcore following swelled numbers and a good atmos generated. Look out for the Welsh, especially the dancing mother.
Won 2-1
May, Friday 13th: The Spider's Web, Cleethorpes
First ticketted gig, £3 on the door. We got 50 punters who drank beer with gusto. Brilliant stage, a real live music
den, perfect for a noise raged by the U-Dogs. Bikers and Greasers were expected, but did not really show, they were
needed as it was a 2-2 Draw
May, Sunday 15th: Highland Laddie, Hull
Has anyone seen Shaun of the Dead? You might have thought we were in the film at times, but a few characters
make this pub memorable in the extreme. Not really made for a Sunday do, as you could hear a pin drop as they didn't rock
in the ailses! Lost 0-1
May, Sunday 29th: The George, Barton-on-Humber
This large pub is much more like it. An eclectic mix of Bank Holiday Boozers helped the Dogs to a Midnight finish! A
second set of 68 minutes, 30 songs performed, fingers of fire for Jonny the Kid, a brilliant night. Won 4-0
July, Saturday 2nd: Norland, Hessle
Performing in the heat and the large lounge made this a good night out. Drunken rock crazies and Kidger Crew couldn't
get enough of live music, and preferred us to the Live8 gig. Great reviews from staff and two rebooks meant a thumping
success. Won 2-0
July 6th: BARTON Bike night, The George
Following the previous nights storm at REM, the rain continued. Along with a council boycott, meant the gig transferred
to the pub itself. Hundreds of steaming beards (and kids) enjoyed U-Dogs as they doubled up with Rough Trade. Mills Lane signalled
a 2-1 win
July, Friday 29th: Ashby Star, Scunthorpe
Saturday is the best night for Scunthorpe, we've learned that after two Friday nighters! The sort of place the Underdogs
revel in, it's rough, dirty, scary and still a great venue. Laughs always guaranteed, looking forward to it once more. Drew
1-1
July, Saturday 30th: Heritage, Hull
Another proper music venue with music fans. Come here next time, you'll be surprised. Especially if you're over 45! Won
2-1
September, Thursday 8th: The Three Tuns, Hull
You didn't let the dog in for nothing did you! Good warm up gig after an August summer break, it lashed it down outside,
punters were sparse. The pub has lost alot of it's clientele (and menace) now Boothferry Park has died. Drew 0-0
September, Saturday 17th: Barn Farm, Thorngumbald
Late BAR! Until 1 a.m. An enjoyable night in the country this, with Ray the landlord and the local DJ organising the
punters. "Werewolves of London" turned up again, along with some real regular rock fans. Good reviews, good night out. Won
1-0
September, Saturday 24th: Nags Head, Newland, Hull
Advertising. And the lack of it, a bit more effort and this could be a good venue. A genuine sprinkling of rock fans
made it OK. Not a great homecoming, or regular venue. Lost 1-2
October, Saturday 1st: Market Rasen Social Club
Good stage and proper venue with real people. Not the most suited to classic rock, they wanted Celine Dion AND Westlife!
We didn't win the meat raffle, but general approval instead. Drew 1-1
November 20: Highland Laddie, Hull
It's grim up North. Trade now learnt, we won't be back soon. Lost 0-1
November 26: Heritage, Hull
What happenned? We had to set-up facing the bar due to a student sit-in, hogging our usual spot. Even at our lowest sound
level, the staff and bar punters were blown away and complained. The atmos died, along with the re-books. Lost 0-2
Friday 6th Feb 2004: Humber Pilot, Hull
Many friendly faces witnessed a triumphant full debut, Jonny the Kid bursting into life on "Pride and Joy", relaxing
after initial fears from fiancee Caroline that the locals would rush the stage and tear into the band! A very enjoyable and
entertaining gig: Won 2-0
Friday 20th Feb 2004: Ashby Star, Scunthorpe.
With the drums fully miced up, and hopefully not feeding back, the boys played blues to the Scunthorpe Steelworkers,
with many punters having a pop on the dance floor. A successful away win, a few sound quality problems overcome: Won
1-0
Thursday 1st April 2004: The White Room, Hull.
The boys played a full set at this interesting venue, the crowd was sparse to say the least, but went home happy. Thanks
go to observer/follower "Blind" Ken Anderson, the House Sound Man, and the two crazy nutjobs shouting in their own mosh pit.
Drew 0-0.
Saturday April 10th: The Highland Laddie, Hull
A vast crowd witnessed this Easter Bonanza, going on as long as the midnight bar extension. Many friends helped to swell
the beer sales and the bar was almost drunk dry (of Coke) again! Most locals were lashed, a 2-1 win...a.e.t
Thursday April 15th: Parkstone, Hull
Returning to their roots, U-Dogs blasted out the Blues at this spacious boozer. Getting the right sound quality was a
war, but thanks to Mally for the PA set-up, and the fine comment from the locals "You don't get out alive if there's
no encore!" Drew 1-1
Saturday April 17th: Thorngumbald Barn, East of Hull
Another Bar Extension (1am), and a fragmented 3-set experience in the Countryside. Going for Bass Bins under Speaker
Spikes, windows were shaking early, but impact was taken away as the pub itself got louder. Born to be Mild.
Lost 3-1
Friday April 23rd: The Railway, Cottingham
A St. Georges Day Feast, all day drinking and an entertaining energetic music fest to boot. The Baskerville rent-a-crowd
numbered over twenty, cheering on even when the mouthorgan went bang. Screaming revellers and nodding beards aplenty. Won
3-1
Wednesday April 28th: King William, Hull City Centre
"Do you get many fans?"... (gulp). The free drink (with 4 straws) from Landlord Steve and the Baskerville Blue-Birds aided
the party atmos, and the Parkstone Posse swelled numbers. "I should have stayed in bed. There were more people there!"
Won 1-0
Monday May 17th, Tap and Spile, Springbank, Hull
Boooo! Rubbish! Our first heckler was despatched as a nob, but despite some good performances, and weirdos aplenty, the
gig did not ignite. Mally helped with a different sound set-up, stage big enough for drums only! Fans needed: Apply here.
Lost 0-1
Saturday May 22nd: The Heritage, Hull
This little known venue is a delight. Great stage in good surroundings with an eclectic blues clientele. An evening which
gathered momentum, new songs and merry dancers. A pleasing effort, rewards gained after much hard work. Won 3-0.
Saturday June 5th: Drum and Cymbal, Hull
England 6 - Iceland 1. Everyone was steamed and singing and went home, AS WE ARRIVED! The crowd being so small made
for a sloppy gig in places, but the hard-core boozers appreciated our sound. U-Dogs still improving, relaxed also. Lost 1-2.
Saturday June 26th: Thorngumbald Barn, East of Hull
Euro 2004 in full swing, a more entertaining gig than last time, but still a great pub. "Blind" Ken Anderson necked his
beers, but Bryan Adams equalised from the KC Stadium, with a cheeky lob (on). We'll be back. Soon. Drew 1-1
Friday September 10th: Heritage, Hull
Not made for a Friday night gig, the dogs returned to this great venue, but couldn't quite match the May performance.
A very knowledgeable crowd, but not enough of 'em! Advertisement now required, more posters soon. Drew 2-2
Saturday September 18th: The Pilot, Hull
Baseball caps everywhere! What happenned to the old men? Not our scene, this Saturday night crowd, the gig fizzled out,
but still a professional perfomance, a couple of new songs would help...4 without a win. Lost 0-2 (Baskerville missed pen)
Saturday September 25th: Cleethorpes Squash and Cricket Club, Clee
Applause, Cheering, Screams! Groundwork paid dividends as the Underdogs rocked on the Coast. Old and young alike appreciated
a bit of real music, with some chums from CIBA thrown in. Great crowd, venue and good night out! Won 5-1
Saturday October 2nd: Highland Laddie, Hull
This venue is old school. Very old in places, but traditional can still be exciting. Watching two 90 year old great grannies
boogie on down to a drum solo, will live long in the memory. U-Dogs getting better, adjusting to the audience is now an option!
Won 1-0
Saturday October 9th: Mainbrace, Hull
Does Ibiza Dance and 70's Rock mix? Yes and No; 500+ people enjoyed their beer/blues in this standout venue. After the
Engalnd win v Wales, revellers were falling about the place and may have danced to anything! Exciting and Incident
packed. Drew 3-3
Saturday October 16th: The Trawl, Grimsby
Good support and a knowing audience made for a winning combo at The Trawl. Ciba employees well impressed with
the sum of the parts, all guns blazing, the Dogs performed again; it's now second nature. The crowd make it happen, and
they did! Won 2-1
Saturday October 30th: Ashby Star, Scunthorpe
Halloween Bash! Skeletons, vampires, spiders and coffin made this an excellent night. New hosts Iggy and Kelly have improved
the overall atmos and put on a great display as much beer went down. Is this a fitting end for the current line-up? Hope not.
Won 2-0
